H.E. NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFFO-ADDO, PRESIDENT ELECT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA(FULL BIOGRAPHY)

Image
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was born and raised in Ga-Maami (Accra Central) and in the Nima area of Accra. His father’s residence, Betty House at Korle Wokon in Accra, was effectively the headquarters of the country’s first political party, the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), after it was formed at Saltpond on 4 August 1947. Three of the ‘Big Six’ – the founding fathers of Ghana – were his relatives: J.B. Danquah (grand uncle), William Ofori-Atta (uncle) and Edward Akufo-Addo (the third Chief Justice of Ghana and later ceremonial President of the Republic from 1969 to 1972), (his father). Akufo-Addo received his primary education first at the Government Boys School, Adabraka, and later at the Rowe Road School (now Kimbu), both in Accra Central. He went to England to study for his O-Level and A-Level examinations at Lancing College, Sussex. He returned to Ghana in 1962 to teach at Accra Academy Secondary School, before going to read Economics at the University of Ghana, Legon,

WHAT NEXT?

Image
In the quest of a journey that seemed never-ending, the destination has finally been reached and the travelers are happy with the journey so far. Indeed it has never been smooth but just as they say "there is an end to every beginning". I have watched and listened to so many comments, critics,analysis,etc...right from the onset of this whole journey called Elections and what I have come to realize is that no matter the smooth and the loud talks, at the end of the day its always the people that decides. Now whoever deserves to win has won but the question that lies on the mouth of many is " What next?" Can the transformation the people eagerly seek for be made a reality or will continue to be a bed time story? I believe we have come far as country, together as one people to watch the fallback of our dear 'Mother Ghana' which is why we must forever stand together in hard work, dedication and loyalty in service of our motherland. Unity they say is strength and

GHANA WILL NEVER PERISH

Image
According to Hagel, Social progress occurs when opposing forces struggle against one another. The struggle usually forces a collision between the opposing forces that produces something better than either of the two opposing forces could have produced separately. Out of this painful clash, between what is called “thesis” and “antithesis” emerges the “synthesis”, which represents the merging of the best of the thesis and the antithesis. This process leads to the growth and progress of society.           Unfortunately, in my country Ghana, the clashes between two opposing forces especially in our political mortgage produces nothing worthy than insults and hatred. We are in a political season again and as usual, the spew of useless venom and insults has become the hallmark of some individuals. To them, anyone who isn’t on their side and disagrees with them is not worthy to breath. The last time I checked, insults and hatred had never won elections but only produces heat wit

UNSAID EMOTIONS

Image
My voice,so thick of unshed emotions Assisted by my protruding red eyes of heavy tear drops like mangoes falling hard on the ceiling of my eyelid With my hands shaking, blatantly refusing to be stable An overwhelming tumult of emotions clad by the icy fingers of sorrows A void of loneliness you left in my heart;marred by a deep wound, scarlet scar that burns deep down my soul like a hot iron slammed unto my disfigured face Pushed away by the same hands that gently brought me at ease when in distress with my heart bleeding profusely like water gushing out of a pipe hole Your partial rejection constantly flashes upon my blur memory like a horror movie but so I searched longingly hoping to see you cast a glance at my pleading eyes. MATTERS OF THE HEART

Image
In this world, people go all extents to make things happen. The rich and poor both have their own way of doing things. It becomes so disheartening when the rich decide not to open up to help the poor. Well, you wouldn't know whether the poor asked and didn't receive but the thing is, can't the rich also see? Can't they see people need help around them? It becomes disturbing when the rich rather sit somewhere and talk ill about the poor; say things like ,"they are lazy or because of the bad life they led that is why they are suffering today"(which could be true in some situations) and other morale-breaking statements.   It leaves me to look at things the way I see them without being judgmental, yeah, because you don't know the pains, worries and hatred that drives some people to do what they do(dubious acts). It looks like they had no choice. Let us consider this situation. A young boy of age say fifteen is not being catered for by his parents. He has rel

TRUTH! THE ENEMY OF MY SOCIETY.

Image
As they continue to hail the hypocrites and call them heroes,  As they worship lousy liars,  I stand and watch in great sorrow.  As they brutalize the few brave truth tellers and cast them out of the society,  I stand and watch with great fear.  Truth! The enemy of my society. As the mad men are been made kings and the wise are now living in the psychiatric,  I stand and watch in great astonishment.  Gradually every pillar within the society is being broken,  The society is being turned upside down.  I stand and watch whiles we welcome our enemies and organizes great feast for them  I stand and watch when they openly, under our naked eyes steal our precious commodities and we just smile at them.  I stand and watch them tell us to throw away our identity and take theirs  They claim their names are the only names ordained by God  They claim that accepting their customs are the only way you can go to heaven.  They trick us!  And steal from us!  The

YOU CAN LOVE AGAIN; LET IT GO.

Image
Indeed, there is no doubt how it hurts being offended and disappointed by the people we love and cherish most in our lives. There are times in life that we sacrifice everything we have in other to make others happy, but they pay us back with pains and sorrows. There are times that we show people love and prove to them how we cherish them, but they later become our enemies.  Those are the times that if God doesn’t cushion our hearts, we are tempted to kill the very people we use to love through curses (duabo), acid spray and anything unacceptable. I wrote this piece not to aggravate your pains from people's hurt, but to let you know that it is the beauty of life to go through those tempting moments, because they help you to appropriate your steps and make you a better person, therefore, you must let it go. We may certainly care and love people who won’t do same in return. When this happens, we are tempted to swear never to love again nor sacrifice for others. That shouldn’t be

TIME

Image
Slowly it moves, Down to the next minute, and the little that move never returns Ooh how foolish I was to watch it tig away. How do I recover my wasted time? Pls someone help me turn back the hand of time. For thousands of things I wish to do. If I plead with it, will it at least wait? How long will it wait for me to correct my mistakes? oooh time!!!! Why rule us with so much violence? You have no friend, even when we all want to be ur friend. Oooh time, how I wish you could be my friend so I can lazy around without you leaving me behide. Tig tag - tig tag, it moves slowly, as if its waits but to no mans favour. If only I could turn back the hand of time, the world will be a better place. #Think Poetry. Article By: Richard Innocent.

THE MASK

Image
The mask I wear is the face you see The mask is so happy, so full of life The mask I wear has eyes that look like they have never seen any evil The mask I wear has a smile so beautiful The mask I wear covers the truth The truth of how my life is nothing but darkness How i think before I go to sleep My body aches in pain with bruises How I cry myself to sleep How I'm told everything is my fault How I tasted my own blood How the one who tells me they love me Turns around and causes me pain The mask I wear hides the pain The mask is the face you see Till I become strong enough to stop the pain. A Broken Record

Image
When I started to write My brain relapsed And I became blind. I resembled A broken record. So I turned My art into singing devilish songs                            When the moon settled on my thighs, The sun hid behind my head And I hid behind the stars,   Slit the world into two, Just to expose the quintessence of the Earth's failure. I ended up feeling a little warmth in my eyes The sound I make with this delicate organ Is joy that reflect my past glory, Was I able to slit the world into two? I am hoping it slowly turn true in your heart; Or quickly find its way into the reef of the ocean in your eyes. When I truly start to write My voice will smoothen like silk I will burn A rose -- petal by petal And melt its fragrance into nothingness. No, I will rather be stronger And control blank space Within the walls of An empty room I am that light that sparkles from devilish music When I learn how to play an organ in

LIFE IN A CITY(untold truth)

Image
I was standing by the fence with a bag in my hand Feeling sad and confused.i just didn't understand The day of departure was near,a voice came screaming I thought I was dreaming Reality,I planned to face with no choice I felt so nervous but I knew soon I might rejoice Devasted I felt, but I had a giant step to make That feeling I had was no mistake These thoughts of circulation went through my mind As I thought one day will look behind To a place I call home As my feet stepped on the street of the city,i knew my new basement to lay my head each night A scruffy corner,i guess to be right Encountering alot of misery untold Waiting for others to be unfold To face the war,i had to hustle through Realizing i threw the truth Drawing my past made me knew I had much to renew. My savanna was better than a rainy forest.

QUITTING TO QUIT

Image
Every human being has got this kind of strange voice within our heads which either motivates, accuses, and causes us to do or make certain decisions in our daily lives. Some scientists have tried to explain this to be part of our natural, in-built potential to overcome pain, discomfort, stress, and even failure. Most often we do hear people saying, "I can hear a voice inside of me, telling me 'this' and 'that", but have we taken much time to analyse the outcome and circumstances for which we hear such voices? Maybe not. A successful businessman may psyche his mind that no matter the voices he keeps hearing in his head, there's no such thing as QUITTING ;whereas one who is striving so hard that he has to fight the thought of QUITTING will also make you understand that it is a constant situation.           Ask me and I will tell you that there are million ways with which this voice interacts with us day in and day out. Sometimes when you wake up, this voice

HAPPY 4TH JULY DAY TO UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Image
I am purposely writing this article just to acknowledge the massive efforts Americans have made to get it to where it is now. We all know that when we sit to talk of great nations, we can never exclude the United States of America. America has been of great influence to many countries in the world in terms of support and many others. On this note I would like to wish all Americans a happy independence day. Before this day, lot of events had taken place until it finally got to a point that America had to separate themselves from the rule of the Great Britain. This event particularly took place on the 4th of July,1776.           Maybe a brief history would give us an idea of why Americans cherish this occasion like that, especially to those who wonder why. On the fourth of July 1776 as stated earlier, the continental congress declared independence for America. Speaking of the continental congress,  it was made up of thirteen colonies; VIRGINIA DELAWARE NEW HAMPSHIRE MASSA

HOOLIGANISM IN FOOTBALL, A MUST STOP PRACTICE!

Image
Almost everyday football around the globe keeps getting better and better. Now it almost appears to me that it is the most cheered and fancied game in the world. Football as a game, I believe was not only meant for players to kick balls into nets and entertain fans but probably also meant to serve as an institution for peace, togetherness and love among all humans or race. Now what do we see, some and intact most football fans are stepping out of this peaceful zone into God-knows-where else. I am speaking of how hooliganism has currently taken such a huge rise in most of worlds football. Maybe just before I continue let me break down what hooliganism means and probably somewhere in this article I will include some of its effects. According to Wikipedia word search engine , 'Hooliganism in football is the unruly, violent and destructive behavior by overzealous supporters of association football clubs, including brawling, vandalism and intimidation'. Guess now that the pat

Thinking

Image
What comes in mind when one decides to think? And what makes one think? Does thinking affect our way of life? Was just on my bed the other day when I started having thoughts of previous events in my life. Some where good, and others not so good. I believe people think for a reason. Not because they plan to but sometimes thoughts just kick in without any efforts at all.                Just imagine you want to live a good life in the near future. Surely you will start to think about how to gain money for all these things that came in mind. Take a scenario as a girl when a guy keeps showing interest. Surely you will start wondering why he wants you. Is it because of smile, maybe your hips, perhaps the way you talk. These are all thoughts that kick in without any effort.                From my current research I got to understand thinking entails 3 tools. The first tool is the zero base thinking which involves what action one is taking in his or her current situation and h

COLOURISM, A FACTOR FOR BLEACHING?

Image
Colourism May be no different from racism in the sence that with racism it refer to the situation where a particular race or people feel supreme over another race or group of people and with colourism, the skin colour is the main factor here such that to some people, light skinned people are somewhat better than dark skinned people. This issue of colourism is most of the time expressed and experienced by ladies/women in and around the world. Now I ask, is Ghana any different when it comes to this particular situation? Gone are the days when our ancestors were so proud of each other no matter what colour they looked like, but now it seems like one appears to be a social misfit when he or she is dark skinned. Believe what I'm saying or not it's true and trending at work places, schools, societies and others, but the question here is that' Is all of that necessary?'           I'm sure of the fact that what a so called light skinned person can do a dark perso

Living purpose

Image
Sometimes it's really hard to comprehend, pertaining to the higgledy-piggledy that's involved in living. Just living, is like a tree planted along the stream of water. It flourishes and produces good fruits seasonally without difficulties. On the contrary, living on purpose is accompanied by an epitome or an embodiment of persistent and consistent incitements, instigations, countersigns and antagonisms. To live on purpose, is to cause change by building an invincible legacy that would be written in the hearts of people generation after generation, and to ignite the desires of others to do the same. I've asked myself time and time again about how I could make a difference whiles I live, and the answer has always been the same. Each and everyone has a responsibility to contribute to the significance of purposefulness. Looking at the challenges that faces the world today, it's absolutely unacceptable to disregard the usefulness of living on purpose. Children are homele

Rise of Terrorism

Image
The term terrorism can be traced at least to the first century. It has no definite definition but from my point of view terrorism is a criminal violent act of an individual or group of people just to achieve a political goal or their own selfish acts. To mention a few of the countries that have been a victim of terrorism include America, Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria and just recently France. One can tell how bad this situation is just by watching the news. A total number of 9,929 deaths occurred in Iraq in 2014. One can just imagine the effects it may have had on others, especially families of deceased ones.                I don't agree with terrorism being major or minor. Terror is terror. Endangering just a life can cost someone a lot in his or her current situation. Take this scenario  where a man catering for a family of 5 decides to go and watch a football game and he's stabbed unluckily for him leading to his death. Just imagine whatever that will hap

AFRICA AGAINST CORRUPTION

Image
Every now and then it occurs to me that Africa as a continent is characterized by a common label, a label which is diminishing the image of Africa, retarding and as a matter of fact blocking most of the continent's progress and development. Indeed I'm speaking of the label 'CORRUPTION' . How I wish the word never existed to be expressed or practised. It is so sad that some of these countries in Africa took about 50 years and above to get to where they are  yet still just a ten-lettered-word 'C-O-R-R-U-P-T-I-O-N' is tearing all the toil apart. Sometimes I sit and wonder, " Could it be that African leaders are so blind to see or so dumb to hear what corruption is leading the continent into?" Well lets just hope they aren't because if they are then Africa might just be about facing worse situations than now.           Lets take a quick look around and see what corruption is leading most African countries into. Lives are being lost, propert

ORIGIN OF LIFE

Image
As a young Christian scientist, i have met a lot of debates as to how the life began. Where as the religious ones say the earth has a Creator who is superior to all, the scientists believe and attribute origin of life to a physical force, THE BIG BANG THEORY  and EVOLUTION. Creation is the art of bringing something new into existence . As a Christian i would speak on the Christian  perspectives of creation. In the very first chapter of the Bible which is Genesis chapter 1 gives a vivid account of the order in which creation took place. It even goes further to say it was only man that was created with the HAND OF GOD. The rest of all organisms were spoken words. ORDER OF CREATION.(GEN1:1-27) FIRST DAY- Heaven and Earth, Day and night & light and darkness SECOND DAY - firmament to seperate the heavens from earth THIRD DAY - separate water from land and created plants. FOURTH DAY - luminary bodies FIFTH DAY: fishes, birds and beasts SIXTH DAY- man The Bible though did not

Seize Ethnocentrism And Racism Now!

Image
Believe you me it will surprise you that even with how far the world have go to, 'Racism' and' Ethnocentrism' still exist, most especially ethnocentrism. Well let me first break these two huge-but-no-huge words down so someone out there can understand what this whole piece is all about. According to Oxford Dictionaries, Racism "is the discrimination, prejudice or antagonism against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. On the other hand, Ethnocentrism "is the evaluation of other cultures according to preconceptions originating in the standards and customs of one's own culture. "I do believe that by now whoever is reading this article might have understood where I am heading towards,if not then stick and read ahead.          Permit me to be a bit religious here but you all will bear sincerely with me that irrespective of our religious affiliations, we do believe that the Creator of this entire

CONQUERING OUR WEAKNESS; EMOTION

Image
Being emotional is the biggest battle I face. Usually perturbed and steered by emotions, I often exaggerate the gravity and efficacy of my words. Not only is this attitude tormenting, but also discouraging and causing anguish, misery, agony to my physical and mental being. Maybe I should say it is a paroxysm of joy. I think you can imagine how it'll feel to live in a world without joy. Upon deeper contemplation, I realized that by confronting my fears,  weaknesses and  circumstantial imbalance gives me the enablement to comprehend this illness. So today I understand that, running away from my weakness is the biggest error I can ever make.     Therefore, I've decided to headlock my challenges and fears, instead of running away from them. Mind you, I've accepted it because it only makes me strong. That's the way I'm conquering my malicious and unacceptable emotions. I still remain focus. "Gratitude is my habit".  #Searching my real self# Article By

SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Image
Over the few years a very good number of social media platforms have risen up. From Google+ to tango, from telegram to viber, whatsapp to imo, instagram to snapchat, wechat, just to mention a few. Each one being unique in its own way. A survey conducted to find out which one is the best and the reason for the choices revealed some amazing facts. Google+ mainly characterized by gmail not very popular in our part of the world even as much as more and more gmail users are rising due to the boom of smartphones. Tango came up and showed class but not many spoke about it because during its reign normal use of sms was effective and efficient. From the survey one unique thing about telegram was the ability to send multimedia messages including documents. But the storage size of the app was nothing to write home about;very large. Facebook which I learnt had been in the system from 2004 got popular around 2010. It became the number one media for socialization. One could add as many as 4000+ f

Voice Of The Youth

Image
This article may be one of the dearest to me that I think anyone out there reading it will also admit to its reality. Recently I embarked on a short survey to find out from people(The Youth) this,"How better Will It be to have the Youth run the affairs of a Country?" It was quite amazing per the responses given. Some believe that if the Youth are given the opportunity to run the affairs of a Country,It will be a disaster simply because the former think the mindset/mentality of the Youth isn't built up(developed) enough to run a country's affairs and hence must remain under the supervision of the adults. Others also believe that with current increase in technology and how technology now plays a vital role in a country's development, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to have the Youth running the country's affairs particular with the help of technology. Some of their reasons had to deal with the fact that currently the Youth are storming the te

Why Acknowledge Mothers?

Image
Someone recently asked me why we only show appreciation to the efforts of our parents(Mothers) in our lives on just a day within the whole year, but all I could say is we always show appreciation to them but on such day it just an honor celebrating your mother as the best among the rest. In case we all don't recognize the efforts and benefits mothers incorporate in our lives, then I will briefly tell you some out of the Acronym 'MOTHER' M-MOTIVATES:-Mothers give us motivation as to how to cope with life challenges, being it Educationally,Socially,Religiously and Morally. O-ORGANIZE:- Mothers help us to ORGANIZE our lives and structure it in a way that is appealing and acceptable in the society. T-TRUST: -She always has confidence and trust in US that no matter the twist and turns things are going to be better. H-HUMBLE: -Mothers are so HUMBLE that even when we disappoint or offend them in one way or the other, they easily forgive US. E-ENCOURAGE: -She encou

THE SOCIAL TOURNAMENT(ELECTIONS);CITIZENS VRS POLITICAL LEADERS.

Image
In every country, there is this social tournament that goes on between the ordinary citizens and the country's politicians. Here in Ghana our tournament(the elections)Is held every 4years to decide who becomes president or who occupies what position. One question I seize not to ask myself is "why my choice of this article or piece".I'm sure after you've read it I may have communicated something to you. Ghana attained Independence 59 years ago and since then we've had several leaders who have served the country with the best they can; talk of H.E Dr. Kwame Nkrumah,H.E J.J. Rawlings,H.E John Agyekum Kuffour, and others time cannot permit me to mention. One common language all these past leaders speak during this social tournament (Election) Is" Vote for me and I will make the lives of all citizen better" and so on yet little of what they promise do they deliver. Ghanaians are so generous that upon hearing all these promises,we entrust o

WHAT IS THE HEAD USED FOR?

Image
I have listened to the debate on the uses of the head. The arguments raised by Kofi Bentil and the reaction by certain people including Prof. Quarm, the man whose book captured the traditional use of the head. I find one thing very surprising that a lot of people seem to think that it was absolutely wrong for Prof. Quarm to have captured that. Honestly, I bet to differ and I'll explain why. If you were born and still live in Ridge, Accra or East Legon, for example, your arguments are likely to go against Prof. Quarm. In those areas, water flow through the tabs and twill be difficult to see people carrying water or load. One of the basic principles of teaching, is to teach from known to unknown, simple to complex. On the other hand, if you were born and still live in a typical village or excuse me to say a hinterland, you would of course appreciate the arguments that it is not wrong to say the use of the head is to carry loads. No one goes to the farm and put a l
