SEIZE THE LONG TALKS; PROVE WITH ACTIONS!

Image
Governments come and go yet one thing they all share in common is the fact that either of these governments have had so much problems to solve, including even those that were not mentioned in their policies. When an individual is appointed a leader, being of a country, organization, home or school, such a person assumes a sacrificial responsibility; and for all I know, sacrifice is all about getting the task done no matter what it takes and not just talking. Even today, every child, young or old, knows for a fact that as a country we are confronted with loads of challenges and none of them seems to ending yet as most of such problems are not to be blamed on either of the previous governments but rather since the foundation of this country was laid. Now, even though we the ordinary citizens know what we face as a country, some politicians out of their own selfish interest I would say, refuse to tell us the truth and so we are always stacked in development. Just imagine how a country w...

THROW BACK: GHANA @ 60, ITS SIGNIFICANCE AND THE WAY FORWARD!

Image
Ebenezer! Indeed this is how far the Lord has brought us as a country that was once in captiv ity and suffering(slavery). Well I may not have existed by then but for all that I’ve lived to know this far, I wouldn’t doubt how great and graceful the Lord has been to us. Just as Canadian hip-hop songwriter and rapper Drake would say, “started from the bottom and now we’re here”. Indeed we did start from the bottom but as far as we’ve come what are the key achievements we as country can boast of when compared to other countries that were once like us? Well, yes talk of democracy and the whole world would applaud Ghanaians for that but what exactly has our democratic style of living gained us in terms of Education, Technology, Agriculture, Health, Industrialization and other nation building sectors? If a forum is to be granted to all Ghanaians to express how they see our journey through this past 6o years, I can assure you that majority will provide similar answers and that is, “It has ...

H.E. NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFFO-ADDO, PRESIDENT ELECT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA(FULL BIOGRAPHY)

Image
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was born and raised in Ga-Maami (Accra Central) and in the Nima area of Accra. His father’s residence, Betty House at Korle Wokon in Accra, was effectively the headquarters of the country’s first political party, the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), after it was formed at Saltpond on 4 August 1947. Three of the ‘Big Six’ – the founding fathers of Ghana – were his relatives: J.B. Danquah (grand uncle), William Ofori-Atta (uncle) and Edward Akufo-Addo (the third Chief Justice of Ghana and later ceremonial President of the Republic from 1969 to 1972), (his father). Akufo-Addo received his primary education first at the Government Boys School, Adabraka, and later at the Rowe Road School (now Kimbu), both in Accra Central. He went to England to study for his O-Level and A-Level examinations at Lancing College, Sussex. He returned to Ghana in 1962 to teach at Accra Academy Secondary School, before going to read Economics at the University of Ghana, Legon, ...

GHANA WILL NEVER PERISH

Image
According to Hagel, Social progress occurs when opposing forces struggle against one another. The struggle usually forces a collision between the opposing forces that produces something better than either of the two opposing forces could have produced separately. Out of this painful clash, between what is called “thesis” and “antithesis” emerges the “synthesis”, which represents the merging of the best of the thesis and the antithesis. This process leads to the growth and progress of society.           Unfortunately, in my country Ghana, the clashes between two opposing forces especially in our political mortgage produces nothing worthy than insults and hatred. We are in a political season again and as usual, the spew of useless venom and insults has become the hallmark of some individuals. To them, anyone who isn’t on their side and disagrees with them is not worthy to breath. The last time I checked, insults and hatred h...

HAPPY 4TH JULY DAY TO UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Image
I am purposely writing this article just to acknowledge the massive efforts Americans have made to get it to where it is now. We all know that when we sit to talk of great nations, we can never exclude the United States of America. America has been of great influence to many countries in the world in terms of support and many others. On this note I would like to wish all Americans a happy independence day. Before this day, lot of events had taken place until it finally got to a point that America had to separate themselves from the rule of the Great Britain. This event particularly took place on the 4th of July,1776.           Maybe a brief history would give us an idea of why Americans cherish this occasion like that, especially to those who wonder why. On the fourth of July 1776 as stated earlier, the continental congress declared independence for America. Speaking of the continental congress,  it was made up of thirt...

Rise of Terrorism

Image
The term terrorism can be traced at least to the first century. It has no definite definition but from my point of view terrorism is a criminal violent act of an individual or group of people just to achieve a political goal or their own selfish acts. To mention a few of the countries that have been a victim of terrorism include America, Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria and just recently France. One can tell how bad this situation is just by watching the news. A total number of 9,929 deaths occurred in Iraq in 2014. One can just imagine the effects it may have had on others, especially families of deceased ones.                I don't agree with terrorism being major or minor. Terror is terror. Endangering just a life can cost someone a lot in his or her current situation. Take this scenario  where a man catering for a family of 5 decides to go and watch a football game and he's stabbed unluckily...

AFRICA AGAINST CORRUPTION

Image
Every now and then it occurs to me that Africa as a continent is characterized by a common label, a label which is diminishing the image of Africa, retarding and as a matter of fact blocking most of the continent's progress and development. Indeed I'm speaking of the label 'CORRUPTION' . How I wish the word never existed to be expressed or practised. It is so sad that some of these countries in Africa took about 50 years and above to get to where they are  yet still just a ten-lettered-word 'C-O-R-R-U-P-T-I-O-N' is tearing all the toil apart. Sometimes I sit and wonder, " Could it be that African leaders are so blind to see or so dumb to hear what corruption is leading the continent into?" Well lets just hope they aren't because if they are then Africa might just be about facing worse situations than now.           Lets take a quick look around and see what corruption is leading most African countries into. Lives are being lo...

Voice Of The Youth

Image
This article may be one of the dearest to me that I think anyone out there reading it will also admit to its reality. Recently I embarked on a short survey to find out from people(The Youth) this,"How better Will It be to have the Youth run the affairs of a Country?" It was quite amazing per the responses given. Some believe that if the Youth are given the opportunity to run the affairs of a Country,It will be a disaster simply because the former think the mindset/mentality of the Youth isn't built up(developed) enough to run a country's affairs and hence must remain under the supervision of the adults. Others also believe that with current increase in technology and how technology now plays a vital role in a country's development, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to have the Youth running the country's affairs particular with the help of technology. Some of their reasons had to deal with the fact that currently the Youth are storming the te...

THE SOCIAL TOURNAMENT(ELECTIONS);CITIZENS VRS POLITICAL LEADERS.

Image
In every country, there is this social tournament that goes on between the ordinary citizens and the country's politicians. Here in Ghana our tournament(the elections)Is held every 4years to decide who becomes president or who occupies what position. One question I seize not to ask myself is "why my choice of this article or piece".I'm sure after you've read it I may have communicated something to you. Ghana attained Independence 59 years ago and since then we've had several leaders who have served the country with the best they can; talk of H.E Dr. Kwame Nkrumah,H.E J.J. Rawlings,H.E John Agyekum Kuffour, and others time cannot permit me to mention. One common language all these past leaders speak during this social tournament (Election) Is" Vote for me and I will make the lives of all citizen better" and so on yet little of what they promise do they deliver. Ghanaians are so generous that upon hearing all these promises,we entrust o...
