THE SOCIAL TOURNAMENT(ELECTIONS);CITIZENS VRS POLITICAL LEADERS.

imageIn every country, there is this social tournament that goes on between the ordinary citizens and the country's politicians. Here in Ghana our tournament(the elections)Is held every 4years to decide who becomes president or who occupies what position. One question I seize not to ask myself is "why my choice of this article or piece".I'm sure after you've read it I may have communicated something to you.
Ghana attained Independence 59 years ago and since then we've had several leaders who have served the country with the best they can; talk of H.E Dr. Kwame Nkrumah,H.E J.J. Rawlings,H.E John Agyekum Kuffour, and others time cannot permit me to mention. One common language all these past leaders speak during this social tournament (Election) Is" Vote for me and I will make the lives of all citizen better" and so on yet little of what they promise do they deliver. Ghanaians are so generous that upon hearing all these promises,we entrust our welfare into the hands of these politicians. They come to us through rallies, conferences and even door-to-door to plead and solicit for our votes yet when voted for they hardly remember that it was by the efforts of the ordinary citizens that earned them what they enjoy.
Election 2016 is here and none of what these politicians will say,are saying or have said sounds new. They will make promises here and there but yet to no much avail. Believe me or not, the selfish, contemptible and ignorant nature of some Ghanaians also causes us to be deprived of certain rightful benefits,in a sense that when politicians give money or whatsoever token they believe can win the votes of such citizens, they feel like it's all we need and so when elected into office sees no need to cast his/her attention to those he promised better living and welfare.I in my own thoughts believe that if taking in of gifts, tokens and other form of corruptible materials just to favour a political party or leader into office can seize, the I strongly have a feel that rightful elected leaders will have no hesitations as to delivering what is/are expected of him/her. But just as I said, until all that seizes the struggle Will even seize to reduce.
I hereby entreat us all to put aside ethnicity, religion, and tribalism as well as personal interests and consider Ghana first in our decision to elect a new leader. Lets all endeavor to vote the rightful candidates into office and not they that have promised us something personal and so on,or one who hails from our respective hometowns as well as share common religion, tribe or ethnic group with. In the end should the rightful candidate win, then will development progress and the welfare of citizens be better. I therefore take this opportunity to entreaties us all, most especially we the youth to avoid any social misconduct related to the elections either before, during or after and let's all try and make peace with one another irrespective of our political differences or religion and ethnic group affiliations so that at the end of the whole tournament, Ghana will surely win and progress. Thank You.
Long live Ghana!Long Live Unity & Peace!Long live Democracy! God bless Us All.
